Dear Friends and Family,
As 2024 comes to a close, we’ve been reminiscing about everything this year brought our way. It’s been a full year of fun, milestones, and sweet memories—here’s a little recap of our highlights!
We kicked off the year in January with a snowy getaway to Sugar Mountain with Dottie (Mémé) and Ted (Grampa). Wren got to play in the snow for the first time, and his squeals of delight made it all worth bundling up for. February brought more family fun when Aunt Louise and Uncle Rich met Wren for the first time. QuiltCon was a fun girls’ trip for Robin, Dottie, and Kathy, while we also celebrated JT’s 39th birthday with a little cake and a lot of love.
In March, construction started on our new sunroom to replace the deck we lost in last year’s storm—goodbye, fallen tree! Visits from Laura, Aunt Suzie, and Marquise made the month even brighter. April was all about chasing the sun—or rather, the moon! We flew to Austin, Texas, to see the total solar eclipse. Clouds tried to spoil the fun, but the eclipse still wowed us. Back home, we welcomed our friends Erin and Brent to Raleigh after six years in Okinawa.
May was a big one—Wren turned one! His "Berry First Birthday" was such a sweet celebration with family, friends, and of course, cake (he approved). In June, Robin picked up crocheting again after a 15-year break, and we visited the Ashboro Zoo, where Wren bravely fed a giraffe. He might be the smallest in the family, but he’s definitely the boldest!
July brought fireworks and family time in Annapolis with Laura and Erik. Wren loved the Baltimore Aquarium—he could’ve watched those fish for hours. Then in August, we took Wren on his first beach trip to Oak Island, NC. He dipped his toes in the ocean but decided the Airbnb pool was where it’s at. That kid loves to swim!
September was a tougher month as Hurricane Helene hit Western NC hard. We were lucky that the floodwaters didn’t reach our home, but it’s heartbreaking to see what others went through. As the weather cooled in October, we made the most of autumn—pumpkin patches, the NC State Fair, and lots of outdoor time with Wren. Halloween was a hit: Wren made an adorable sushi roll, with Robin as soy sauce and John as a bottle of Sriracha.
Thanksgiving in November was spent at our house, and it was so nice to gather with immediate family and enjoy good food and even better company. Now, in December, the holiday magic is in full swing. Wren is starting to get it—he’s enchanted by the twinkling lights and ornaments, and seeing his wonder makes everything feel so special.
Thanks for being part of our lives this year—we’re so grateful for all of you! Wishing you a joyful holiday season and an amazing start to 2025.
With love,
Robin, John Thomas, and Wren
