Dear Family and Friends,
As another year draws to a close, we want to take a moment to share the highlights and happenings from the Skarbek family. It's been a year filled with love, challenges, and memorable moments.
We began the year with Robin halfway through her pregnancy, setting the stage for the anticipation of a new family member. In February, we took a break for a windy baby-moon at Kure Beach, NC, celebrating John's 38th birthday and savoring the quiet moments before our family expanded.
The excitement continued in March with a delightful baby shower at Mom/Dottie/Meme’s house, and a long awaited visit from our good friend, Erin, traveling all the way from Okinawa. Simultaneously, our kitchen renovation finally kicked off, promising a fresh and functional space for our growing family.
Entering April, our friend Kristen threw a tie-dye themed joint baby shower for Robin and their good friend, Rae. As the end of April arrived, so did our due date. However, our little one had his own schedule, making his grand entrance on May 8th. With Wren's arrival, sleep became a luxury, but the outpouring of love and support from family and friends made this challenging time more manageable. Amid the sweet chaos, we also celebrated Robin's 34th birthday. Thankfully, the kitchen renovation was on the verge of completion and was put on pause before any baby chaos.
In August, nature threw us a curveball during a windy thunderstorm when a massive tree fell on our house. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but the tree left its mark, creating holes in the roof and obliterating the deck. Despite the unexpected events, we were grateful no one was hurt.
Embracing new priorities, Robin made the decision to quit her job with Kitty Poo Club in October and become a stay-at-home mom to Wren, relishing in the precious moments of his early development.
Our adventurous spirit took us on our first big road trip with Wren in November. We drove up to Glens Falls, NY, for a beautiful family wedding, creating lasting memories with our little one.
As we put the finishing touches on the kitchen in December, Wren is experiencing his first Christmas season, bringing joy and laughter to our household. The holiday season is truly magical as we cherish traditions and create new ones as a family of three.
As we step into 2024, John is eagerly anticipating his fourth year of beekeeping, while Robin looks forward to every new milestone that Wren achieves, as well as going on more adventures as a family. Our little one is already showing signs of eagerness to explore the world – crawling and walking are on the horizon.
