My work can be found on several sites, including Spoonflower and Redbubble. In addition, my designs can be licensed by companies searching for fresh new patterns for their products. I also enjoy working one-on-one with a customer to design a pattern unique to them and their needs.

The story

I sort of stumbled into the world of surface pattern design. I had always wanted to be a graphic designer, and was working professionally at a marketing firm for about a year. At that time, around 2012, I discovered I could create patterns and order one-off prints of my designs on fabric through Spoonflower.

As a hobby, I enjoy sewing, crafting, and making things with my hands. My mother raised me to appreciate the art of making quilts, and my father, an engineer, encouraged me to be familiar with computers and technology at a young age.

Being able design and print my own patterns onto fabric blew my mind. I could combine my skills in illustration and design with my passion for sewing into one magical hobby. After a few years dabbling in surface pattern design as a hobby, I realized that I wanted to put more effort into it, and create a small business. And Robin Skarbek Studio was born!
